'Growth' - (Karen Hansen, 2024) Mixed Media and Earth Pigment on Canvas

An exploratory work, created to test mixed media sculptural elements and processes -  painted with kokowai (sacred red ochre, hand gathered and processed in studio with prayer and intention) inset with a live air plant from Karen's childhood beach, and highlighted with buffed gold wax.

The sculptural element has been moulded in no-more nails from the artists environment since 2018 in a unique collaboration with and disruption of the original forms and intentions
